NOVEMBER • 2023
The Corps Mission Department is very excited to announce a brand new partnership with Love New Canadians, a well established para-church organization that has a proven track record of not just helping immigrants adjust and assimilate into Canadian culture, but more importantly, helping new immigrants begin a faith journey and become members of the Kingdom of God.  Love New Canadians is a ministry that equips local churches to serve new Canadians in their neighborhoods and to be intentionally welcoming for immigrants, refugees and international students. With massive numbers of people moving to Canada from all over the world and making their homes in the communities which The Salvation Army serves, we all need to become more intentional and better equipped to reach out to this growing population – to meet their needs – and to welcome them into our congregations.
That’s where our new partnership with LNC comes in!  Starting on November 1, 2023, Rick and Patti Love will provide extensive curriculum downloads, multiple webinars and learning opportunities, unlimited online coaching for officers, employees and lay leaders, and 4 in-person visits to SA events or functions.
Through this new partnership, we believe that we have the potential to revitalize corps that are struggling to find purpose or to make community impact; to re-imagine corps that are facing decline; to re-fill SA buildings that are sitting dormant too many days each week.  Through this new partnership we can become equipped, and passionate, to reach out to a whole new harvest field that may be right in our own backyard.
We want to encourage every corps officer to reach out to Rick and Patti and begin the dialogue that may revolutionize your corps!

Note: You can meet Rick Love online at the November 7 Evangelism Masterclass
Meet Rick Love online where he will talk about what it can mean to holistically share faith with people who have arrived in a new country.  This is a very timely topic as we anticipate the hundreds of new immigrants who will come through our doors this Christmas in need of food and toys.

A one-day conference to encourage men to be steadfast in their walk with God.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58 NKJV)

This is a testimony & teaching webinar that will be hosted four times regarding full participation for those with disabilities. Major Dr. Catherine Spiller will share her experience as a Corps Officer, a parent, and her from her education.
Major Catherine says. "Have you ever considered how to engage with people with disabilities in your corps? Come along to this webinar where I will share with you the journey that I have been on as a parent of a young man with an intellectual disability and as an Officer. We will explore together what full participation looks like and how it can be applied in your ministry setting."

This three-week discussion using the 2023 Disability Concerns Book of the Year took place in September.   The participants felt the discussion was very meaningful and there was a desire  to continue the discussion and take it further into local settings.  There are plans being made to host another discussion in the New Year.    Major Shelley is also available to host a discussion with just your ministry unit.  If this is something you might be interested in, please reach out to Major Shelley Kerr.

In this series, a variety of virtual ministries across the Canada and Bermuda Territory are showcased as media producers share helpful insights.

H20 by Kyle Idleman
H2O is a seven-week experience designed to create a safe atmosphere where people are comfortable considering the person of Jesus Christ. This creative newly re-released tool meets an ancient need: sharing the truth of Jesus Christ through relationships and community. H2O transforms lives by feeding the mind, moving the heart, and stimulating the senses.
Endorsement: H2O is a really great video series which is available on Right Now Media. It is a really non-in-your-face approach to Christianity, and it is very powerful. We have led a Bible study with it a couple of times. Dave & Kim Maandag, Cowichan Valley

THE BOOK OF JONAH by Eric Mason
In his Bible Study on the book of Jonah, Dr. Eric Mason takes ancient text and brings relevant truth that needs to be heeded by the 21st century church as it seeks to witness and minister in the name of Christ to a post-church world. The study issues a personal challenge, bringing us face to face with the need to love all of God’s people, and to minister in places we may not be comfortable with, but where God is calling us to be. He brings a distinctly African American perspective to his teaching, reminds us that Christianity is a deep well, and that we have much to learn from different cultures, races, and ethnicities within the church fellowship on the sacred truths of God’s Word. So climb aboard and settle in as Eric reveals how God uses extraordinary circumstances to break our hearts of selfishness, convince us of His tender care, and unite our lives to His glory.
